According to a new survey, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump led Joe Biden by two points this week after considering their sons' criminal convictions.
A two-day poll finished on Tuesday with 41% of registered voters supporting Trump and 39% supporting Democratic Biden. The poll revealed that 20% of voters had not chosen a candidate, were considering third parties, or might not vote on Nov 5.

Trump's edge was within the survey's three percentage point margin of error for registered voters, many of whom are uncertain with five months until Nov. 5. Former poll from May 31–June 1 showed Biden leading Trump by 2 points, 41% to 39%.

Political candidates are supported nationwide, but only a few competitive states usually swing the electoral college, which decides the presidential election.
Both candidates faced major disadvantages in the first presidential rerun in 70 years.

On November 6, 2023, one of two former U.S. President Donald Trumps attends the Trump Organization civil fraud trial in Manhattan's New York State Supreme Court, while on March 1, 2024, Joe Biden meets with Italy's Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in the White House Oval Office.

This week, Biden became the first sitting president whose child was convicted, yet the poll showed few Americans were changing their thoughts.
Trump became the first president convicted while in office or thereafter last month. An adult film actress was paid before the 2016 presidential election to keep quiet about an alleged sexual encounter with Trump. A jury convicted him guilty of 34 charges. July will see his punishment.
The latest national poll found that 80% of registered voters thought Hunter Biden's conviction would not affect their vote, compared to 61% who thought Trump's would.
After leaving office in 2021, Trump, 77, will face three additional charges for attempting to overturn his loss in the 2020 election and handling secret records improperly.
